‘Breaking Fast’

Ok, so we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Our bodies fast (do not consume food) while we are sleeping, so when we wake up it is time to break the fast, or eat breakfast. It is suggested that we eat within the first 2 hours of waking up to get the proper amount of energy we need for the day. But, for some of us, morning is the most hectic time of day, so we tend to skip breakfast all together or get our sustenance from sugary fixes like doughnuts or cheese Danish (one of my weaknesses).

For many years I skipped breakfast or opted for the cheese Danish and a coffee, but around 10 am, I would be half-starved and ready to consume an entire large pizza. Suffice to say, I packed on the pounds during those years and in a way, eating a healthier breakfast was one of the things that saved me from heading down obesity lane.

Before we move on, let me just say I am not an expert on nutrition and this blog is not about weight-loss. I am here simply to share with you my experiences cooking interesting, delicious, time saving meals while living a busy lifestyle.
