There’s a lot of exciting things happening in the Gaia Goodness world but first, let me catch you up on my recent trip. I just came back from a much needed vacation with my family to Atlanta, GA. Each year my Mother, Aunts, cousin and me do a girls’ trip to a different destination. A 17 year tradition so far. We usually go out of the country but we decided to keep it domestic this time and got the chance to attend our annual family reunion in Carrollton, GA. Carrollton is a small town about 45 minutes outside of ATL. This is the town where my Grandmother Rose and her siblings was born. It’s such a cute and quaint place with weeping willows, wrap around porches, a Main street, and red clay dirt for miles. I reunited with cousins I hadn’t seen in over 20 years and met family I didn’t even know existed. My Grandmother and Great Aunties and Uncle have all made their transition, but it felt great to get reconnected to my roots and see myself in the faces of total strangers. On some level I feel as though Grandma and my Aunties and Uncle conspired on the other side to make sure we were present at this reunion, because my family has been gathering for this event for 71 years and it was our first time attending this year. Needless to say, it was such a love-filled journey and I am so eternally grateful for the time I got to spend with my extended relatives.
That’s me on the bottom right in the blue floral dress. Hi!!
Now I am all rejuvenated and ready to get back to work!
This month, July 2014, I am entering a recipe contest. I have to prepare 8 recipes using a specific ingredient. There are four categories and up to two entries per category for breakfast, main course, appetizer, and dessert. I am so very excited because I looove cooking with a specific ingredient and I get to show off my creativity for a chance to win up to $18,000!! Man, that money sure would help me a great deal with launching the Gaia Goodness Company. Fingers crossed!!
Crowd Funding Campaign
I am also putting the finishing touches on my Indie Gogo crowd funding campaign to raise $7,000 for initial start up costs. I expect to be ready to launch that campaign by August 1st and I am definitely going to need your support. I figured if a guy who wants to raise $10 to make potato salad can raise over $30,000, I surely can reach my goal of $7,000. Lol!! I mean really…
Crowd Funding Perks for my lovely supporters
I am offering some pretty great perks like full size jars of the Banana Mango Ketchup in 5 and 12 oz sizes, T-shirts, aprons, personalized cooking videos, full color cookbooks, recipe cards, hand knitted potholders, and some other very exclusive goodies you’ll find out about soon.
Once the campaign is launched, I’ll be launching my blog radio where I’ll be discussing all things food such as recipes, new artisanal food products on the market, news about the growing food movement, food business and food laws, as well as interviewing some of your favorite food bloggers and foodies in the food community.
Whew! Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me and I couldn’t be happier. I get to do what I love and turn my passion into my career. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I am truly blessed and I’m grateful to you guys for joining me on this exciting and fulfilling journey.
Okay, now let’s get to the food. Today I want to share with you my recipe for Raspberry Banana Mango Balsamic Reduction.
This sauce is delicious on pork, beef, chicken, fish, seafood, veggies, and even polenta! I drizzled some over smoked pork ribs I bought from Whole Foods and then put them under the broiler for about 7 minutes until the sauce got nice and sticky. I served the ribs with some fried polenta slices and a roasted veggie medley. WOW!! Talk about a spectacular meal!
I also marinated some thick cut pork chops in this reduction over night and then grilled them to perfection on my stove top grill pan for 15-20 minutes on each side over a medium flame. Yummers!!!
For this Banana Mango Ketchup recipe, if you don’t have BMK on hand you can substitute with fresh mangoes and bananas or just use the raspberries.
